Fascia and soffit work in Hollywood, FLSound wood under the gutter.
We look over the fascia and soffit along your roofline, show you what we find, and tell you which sections we would replace.
Fascia & Soffit
Fascia is the board along the roof edge that the gutter hangs on. Soffit is the underside of the eave, the panel you see when you look up at the overhang. Both take a beating from rain and sun.
When a gutter overflows, water runs down the back of the fascia instead of off the front. After a few rainy seasons that can turn solid board soft, and soft board will not hold a hanger.

Signs your fascia or soffit needs work
Soft or crumbling boards
If a screwdriver tip sinks in or pieces flake off, the wood has rotted and a gutter will not stay on it.
Peeling or stained paint
Bubbling, peeling or dark streaks along the board often mean water has been running behind the gutter.
Gaps at the eave
Open gaps or a sagging soffit panel give insects, rodents and birds a way up into the attic.
Gutters pulling away
A gutter that sags or has come loose at the hangers may be hanging on a board that can no longer hold a fastener.

On the job
What a fascia and soffit job covers
- Looking over the fascia and soffit along the whole roofline, not just one spot
- Showing you what we find and which sections we would replace
- Replacing damaged sections so the gutter has solid board to hang on
- Closing up eave gaps where insects and other critters get in
- Checking that the soffit vents can still let the attic breathe
Hollywood & South Broward
Humid air, heavy rain, soft wood
South Florida wood lives in heat, humidity and a rainy season that runs roughly May through October. Boards that stay damp rot faster, and a clogged gutter keeps them wet. Fixing the board and the gutter together keeps one problem from feeding the other.
Questions
Fascia & Soffit: common questions
Do the boards need replacing before new gutters?
If the fascia is soft, new gutters will not stay up. We look at the boards first and tell you which sections we would replace before the gutters go on.
What is the difference between fascia and soffit?
Fascia is the vertical board at the roof edge, where the gutter hangs. Soffit is the flat underside of the eave. The fascia carries the gutter, and soffit vents let air move through the attic.
Can I spot bad boards from the yard?
Sometimes you can see peeling paint or gaps from the ground, but soft wood usually shows up only up close. We get on the ladder, look at it, and tell you what we find.
